Intermediate Grades 4-5
The 4th and 5th intermediate grades are a time to build upon the core curriculum established during the primary grades and a time to prepare our students for middle school.
During the intermediate years, our students transition from small group instruction to a more student-centered, discussion based instruction. Students learn to become more independent thinkers and take ownership of their learning.
The intermediate grades’ social studies programs explore both California and United States histories. Both grades participate in a “Walk Through” presentation centered on California for 4th grade and the American Revolution for 5th grade. This presentation is designed to allow students to actively participate in a lively retelling of our rich history. Through the use of games, music, and storytelling, history comes alive!
These two years are essential in preparing our students not only for middle school, but also the remainder of their academic journey.
